Return of Cricket to the Olympic Games

Cricket is making a historic return to the Olympic Games in 2028, more than a century after its last appearance in 1900. The tournament will feature the fast-paced T20 format, which is popular worldwide. This inclusion aims to increase the sport’s global reach and attract new audiences. Major cricketing nations like India, England, and Australia are expected to participate. The return of cricket marks a significant milestone in the sport’s international growth.

As of now, six teams have been confirmed for both the men’s and women’s T20 cricket tournaments at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Each tournament will feature six national teams, with each squad comprising 15 players, totaling 90 athletes per gender. The United States, as the host nation, is expected to receive an automatic berth, leaving five spots available for other countries. The specific qualification criteria for these remaining spots have not yet been finalized. This compact format aims to ensure smooth scheduling within the broader Olympic program.

Prize Money Announced for PSL 10th Edition

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially announced the prize money for the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which begins on April 11, 2025. The winning team will receive USD 500,000 (approximately PKR 145 million), while the runners-up will be awarded USD 200,000 (around PKR 56 million). This prize distribution is consistent with previous editions of the tournament. PSL 10 will feature six teams competing in 34 matches, with the final scheduled to take place at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on May 18.

Nicholas Pooran Leads IPL 2025 Run Scoring; Noor Ahmad Tops Wicket Tally

As of April 11, 2025, Nicholas Pooran of the Lucknow Super Giants leads the run-scoring charts in IPL 2025 with 288 runs. Following him are Sai Sudharsan of Gujarat Titans with 273 runs and Mitchell Marsh, also from Lucknow SuperGiants, with 265 runs. In the bowling department, Noor Ahmad of the Chennai Super Kings has claimed the most wickets, taking 12 wickets so far. He is closely followed by Hardik Pandya and Khaleel Ahmed, both with 10 wickets.
